The Well community centre, a formerly derelict building at Haw Hill in Normanton, West Yorkshire has been transformed into a thriving local community centre. As one of the contributors to the project, Courtcraft is delighted to have helped provide flooring, resources and labour free of charge.
After six months of work on the project, the community centre known as The Well @ Haw Hill Park is now open. It was officially opened by Shadow Home Secretary and Labour MP for Normanton, Pontefract & Castleford Yvette Cooper.
Jenny Farrall-Bird, Community Project Manager of The Well Project said:
“Our aim is to see over 5,000 people benefit from this project. The new centre will allow us to expand the support we offer the community, from children to mothers and toddlers, and for pensioners and unemployed people.’’
Yvette Cooper, Shadow Home Secretary and Labour MP for Normanton, Pontefract & Castleford said:
“The Well Project has been delivering fantastic youth facilities for Normanton for years and I’m honoured to have been able to officially open the fantastic new facilities alongside staff, supportive partners and most importantly the children who’ll be using the centre.’’
Thomas Smith, Managing Director of Courtcraft said:
‘’When Interserve asked us to get involved as one of their contractors, we were delighted to do our bit to help to renovate the centre so that young people have a great new space to come to.”
